Bimafy Terms & Conditions

Firsttrip Limited acts solely as a facilitator for Bimafy's services and holds no responsibility for any claims, settlements, or financial transactions associated with Bimafy. Our role is limited to providing access to Bimafy products, enabling customers to purchase them while booking flight tickets through the Firsttrip platform. Please review the terms and conditions carefully before proceeding with your purchase.

1. Passenger Bima - Domestic Flights
1.1 General Definitions
  • “Insured Member” means the person(s) who has opted in for an insurance coverage while purchasing a travel service (including but not limited to: Air/Bus/Launch/Train ticket, holiday/tour package, hotel booking, visa processing, etc.) from Firsttrip.
  • “Accident” means a sudden, unforeseen and involuntary event caused by external, visible and violent means.
  • “Accidental Injury” means accidental physical or bodily harm to the Insured Member excluding the reasons mentioned under the Exclusions below, which is solely and directly caused by external, violent, visible, and evident means, and is verified or certified by a valid Medical Professional.
  • “Accidental Death” means death of the Insured Member due to an Accident except due any unlawful activity and due to the reasons mentioned under Exclusions below.
  • “Dengue Fever” means illness of the Insured Member due to Dengue Virus.
  • “Insurance Partner” means third-party insurance company with applicable registration and license from the relevant authority in Bangladesh who is an independent contractor and not Bimafy (bimafy.com) or Firsttrip who underwrites the risks of the group insurance policy.
  • “Medical Professional” means an individual who is licensed or certified in Bangladesh, having an MBBS or equivalent degree, to perform the necessary medical procedures within his/her scope of practice.
1.2 Eligibility and Terms

All insurance coverage shall be applicable for the Insured Members who have been registered or enrolled under the group life insurance policy through this digital insurance subscription (the Service) while booking or purchasing a bus/air/launch ticket from Firsttrip website/mobile application. Only the Insured Member(s) shall be under the insurance coverage with a valid bus/air/launch ticket booking from Firsttrip with certain provisions, and limitations as per the following:

  • The Insured Member must be aged between 6 months and 65 years at the time of subscription. If an Insured Member is aged below 18 (eighteen years) at the time of subscription then a parent or legal guardian must accompany him/her during the travel with a separate insurance subscription for the parent/legal guardian.
  • Insurance coverage shall be applicable for traveling within the territory of Bangladesh only.
  • Insurance coverage is applicable for the journey day, with an extended coverage of 7 days for Dengue Fever.
  • An effective waiting period of 48 (forty-eight hours) from the time of departure shall apply for any condition/illness due to Dengue Fever. However, Dengue Fever is covered if the diagnosis is confirmed within 7 (seven) days from the date of the journey.
1.3 Insurance Benefit Schedule

The Insured Member or the legal nominee (in applicable cases) of the Insured Member shall be able to claim the insurance benefits in case of a covered event as per the following table:

1.4 Limitations
  • If a person is covered under multiple subscriptions, any one claim shall be entertained against any one illness or accident. Multiple claim settlement for a single illness or accident under different subscriptions shall not be entertained.
1.5 Exclusions

The following exclusions shall be applicable for the insurance coverage:

  • General Exclusions:
    • Any pre-existing conditions.
    • Any mental, emotional, and psychiatric disorders, alcoholism or any other narcotic addiction.
    • Any condition due to consuming addictive substances.
    • The condition of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), or any AIDS-related illness or HIV virus and sexually transmitted diseases.
    • Treatment or advice by a person or professional not registered under BMDC (Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council).
  • Specific Exclusions for Accidental Death:
    • Death caused by self-inflicted injury or the commission of or attempted commission of an assault or any unlawful act, or being engaged in any illegal activity or felony;
    • Suicide while sane or insane;
  • Specific Exclusions for Personal Accident Benefit:
    • Accidents due to any unlawful activities or due to the use of addictive substances by the Insured Member.
1.6 Sub-limits for Personal Accident Benefit

Personal Accident Benefit can be further classified under different categories based on the type of Accidental Injury sustained by the Insured Member with corresponding level of benefits. Insured Member or the legal nominee (in applicable cases) shall receive financial benefits against Accidental Injury based on the nature of the injury as per the below table.

2nd& 3rd Degree BurnSecond-degree (partial thickness) burns involve the epidermis and part of the lower layer of skin, the dermis. The burn site looks red, blistered, and may be swollen and painful.

Third-degree (full thickness) burns destroy the epidermis and dermis. They may go into the innermost layer of skin, the subcutaneous tissue. The burn site may look white or blackened and charred.

Chest Injury, Internal InjuryThese injuries can be more severe such as broken ribs or internal injuries such as internal bleedings. Blunt trauma occurs when a part of the body collides with something else, particularly at high speed or with great force. When this happens, blood vessels inside the body can be crushed or torn. Penetrating trauma occurs when an object penetrates the body and tears holes in blood vessels, muscle and internal organs. This can happen when someone falls onto a sharp object, as in workplace accidents, or when objects collide with and penetrate the body in motor vehicle accidents.BDT. 12,500.00
Acute Lung Injury (ALI), Acute Respiratory Distress SyndromeTravelers may experience respiratory impairment from submersion/immersion in water or any other liquid due an accident while traveling. These acute lung conditions mostly occur when a person drowns in water following an accident.BDT. 10,000
Fractures, Dislocation, Dismemberment, AmputationA fracture is a break, usually in a bone. If the broken bone punctures the skin, it is called an open or compound fracture. A dislocation is an injury to a joint — a place where two or more bones come together — in which the ends of the bones are forced from their normal positions. Dismemberment or amputation is a cut off or disjoin of a limb or a part of a limb.BDT. 6,250.00
Scrape and Cut Injury, Abrasions, Soft Tissue Injury, 1st Degree BurnCuts and scratches are areas of damage on the surface of the skin. A cut is a line of damage that can go through the skin and into the muscle tissues below, whereas a scrape is surface damage that does not penetrate the lower tissues. A soft tissue injury is damage to the body’s connective tissue, which means muscles, ligaments and tendons. An abrasion or "excoriation" is a wearing away of the upper layer of skin as a result of applied friction force. First-degree burns affect only the outer layer of skin, the epidermis.BDT. 2,500.00
1.7 Claim Documentation

The claimant must provide the below mentioned documents in digital formats in order to submit a claim:

  • For Accidental Deaths (Claim to be submitted by the legal nominee)
    • Copy of NID/Birth Certificate of the Insured Member
    • Death Certificate from the last attending physician/clinic/hospital mentioning the actual cause of death
    • Post-mortem report
    • Copy of NID/Passport/Birth Certificate of the Legal nominee
    • Warisan/Succession certificate from the local government authority or court
    • Any other relevant documents which may require
  • For Accidental Injury
    • Copy of NID/Passport/Birth Certificate
    • Doctor’s prescription/emergency ticket
    • Doctor’s Advice for hospitalization (in applicable cases)
    • Discharge Certificate (in applicable cases)
    • All medical bills
    • All diagnostic test reports such as X-Ray, City Scan, MRI or such relevant reports
    • Any other supporting documents (if required)
  • For Dengue Fever
    • Doctor’s advice for Dengue Test
    • Dengue Test Report stating “Positive” results
    • Any other supporting documents (if required)
2. Domestic Travel Bima – Domestic Hotels and Holidays
2.1 General Definitions

“Insured Member” means the person(s) who has been registered or enrolled under the group life insurance policy through this Service.

“Accident” means a sudden, unforeseen and involuntary event caused by external, visible and violent means.

“Accidental Injury” means accidental physical or bodily harm to the Insured Member excluding the reasons mentioned under the Exclusions below, which is solely and directly caused by external, violent, visible, and evident means, and is verified or certified by a valid medical professional (MBBS or equivalent degree holder).

“Accidental Death” means death of the Insured Member due to an Accident except due any unlawful activity and due to the reasons mentioned under Exclusions below.

“Emergency Medical Condition” means an illness or medical conditions except Accidental Injury which is acute in nature and poses an immediate risk to the Insured Person’s life or long-term health and is not a medical condition or illness pre-existing to the commencement date of the insurance coverage.

“Hospitalization or Hospitalized” means the Insured Member’s admission into a Hospital for a minimum of 24 or more consecutive hours for In-Patient Treatment due to an Emergency Medical Condition.

“Dengue Fever” means breakbone fever sustained by the Insured Member due to any of the Dengue viruses.

“Doctor Consultation” means consultation taken by the Insured Member from a valid medical professional (MBBS or equivalent degree holder) due to an Emergency Medical Condition.

“Insurance Partner” means third party insurance company with applicable registration and license from the relevant authority in Bangladesh who is an independent contractor and not Bimafy/Bimafy or Firsttrip.

2.2 Eligibility and Terms

An Accidental Death, Accidental Injury, Emergency Hospitalization, Dengue Fever, and Doctor Consultation coverage shall be applicable for the Insured Members who have been registered or enrolled under the group life insurance policy through this digital insurance subscription (the Service) while booking a travel package from Firsttrip website/mobile application. Only the Insured Members shall be under the insurance coverage while traveling with a valid travel package booking from Firsttrip with certain provisions, and limitations as per the following:

  • Insured Members must be within the age of 6 months and 65 years at the time of enrollment. If an Insured Member is aged below 18 (eighteen years) at the time of enrollment then a parent must accompany him/her during the travel with a separate insurance subscription for the parent.
  • Insurance coverage shall be applicable for traveling within the territory of Bangladesh only.
  • All insurance coverage duration is 7 (seven) days from the starting date of travel with an effective waiting period of 48 (forty-eight hours) for any infection due to Dengue Fever. However, Dengue Fever is covered if the diagnosis is confirmed within 14 (fourteen) days from the starting date of travel.
  • Insurance coverage for Emergency Hospitalization is automatically extended for up to a maximum of 4 (four) days if the Insured Member is hospitalized within the initial coverage duration due to an Emergency Medical Condition.
  • Insurance coverage for Emergency Hospitalization is limited to a maximum of 5 (five) nights of in-patient hospital treatment. MBBS or equivalent doctor’s recommendation is required for hospitalizations.
  • Insurance coverage for Doctor Consultation is limited to a maximum of 1 (one) instance per Insured Member.
2.3 Insurance Benefit Schedule

The Insured Member or the legal nominee (in applicable cases) of the Insured Member shall be able to claim the insurance benefits in case of a covered event as per the following table:

2.4 Exclusions

The following exclusions shall be applicable for the insurance coverage:

  • General Exclusions:
    • Any pre-existing conditions.
    • Any mental, emotional, and psychiatric disorders.
    • Any condition due to consuming addictive substances
    • The condition of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), or any AIDS related illness or HIV virus and sexually transmitted diseases.
  • Specific Exclusions for Accidental Death:
    • Death caused by self-inflicted injury or the commission of or attempted commission of an assault or any unlawful act, or being engaged in any illegal activity or felony;
    • Suicide while sane or insane;
  • Specific Exclusions for Accidental Hospitalization (including Day-Care Treatment), and Doctor Consultation:
    • Accidents due to any unlawful activities or due to use of addictive substances by the Insured Member.
2.5 Special Provisions for Accidental Injury Benefit

Accidental Injury benefits can be further classified under 5 (five) different categories with corresponding benefits as per the following table:

    • Diagnostic Test Report stating “Positive” Dengue virus infection results
    • Any other supporting documents (if required)
  • For Doctor Consultation
    • Doctor’s prescription/investigation report
    • Consultation bill
2.7 Claim Decision, and Settlement

All claims are subject to verification by Insurance Partner and Insurance Partner reserves the right to reject any claim if it is deemed invalid/inappropriate or not applicable under insurance coverage.

Successful claims for insurance coverage shall be settled via bank account/mobile wallet within ten (10) working days after receiving all necessary documents from the Insured Member or legal nominee of the Insured Member (in applicable cases).

3. International Travel Bima (Silver/Gold) – International Flights
3.1 General Definitions
  • “Insured Member” means the person(s) who has opted in for an insurance coverage while purchasing a travel service (including but not limited to: Air/Bus/Launch/Train ticket, holiday/tour package, hotel booking, visa processing, etc.) from Firsttrip.
  • “Accident” means a sudden, unforeseen and involuntary event caused by external, visible and violent means.
  • “Accidental Injury” means accidental physical or bodily injury sustained by the Insured Member except for the reasons mentioned under the Exclusions below, which is solely and directly caused by an Accident, and is verified or certified by a valid Medical Professional.
  • “Death” means death of the Insured Member due to a natural reason or an Accident except due to the reasons mentioned under Exclusions below.
  • “Hospitalization” means hospital admission of the Insured Member for at least 24 or more hours due to an emergency medical condition except due to the reasons under Exclusions below.
  • “Insurance Partner” means third-party insurance company with applicable registration and license from the relevant authority in Bangladesh who is an independent contractor and not Bimafy (bimafy.com) or Firsttrip who underwrites the risks of the group insurance policy.
  • “Medical Professional” means an individual who is licensed or certified in the land where he/she resides, having a professional medical degree to perform the necessary medical procedures within his/her scope of practice.
3.2 Eligibility and Terms

All insurance coverage shall be applicable for the Insured Members who have been registered or enrolled under the group life insurance policy through this digital insurance subscription (the Service) while booking or purchasing a bus/air/launch ticket from Firsttrip website/mobile application. Only the Insured Member(s) shall be under the insurance coverage with a valid bus/air/launch ticket booking from Firsttrip with certain provisions, and limitations as per the following:

  • The Insured Member must be aged between 6 months and 65 years at the time of subscription. If an Insured Member is aged below 18 (eighteen years) at the time of subscription then a parent or legal guardian must accompany him/her during the travel with a separate insurance subscription for the parent/legal guardian.
  • Insurance coverage shall be applicable for traveling outside the territory of Bangladesh only.
  • Insurance coverage duration shall be based on the plan (i.e., 15/30 days) subscribed by the Insured Member as per the Insurance Benefit Schedule below. However, insurance coverage shall cease on the coverage expiry date or upon arrival at Bangladesh, whichever is earlier.
3.3 Insurance Benefit Schedule

The Insured Member or the legal nominee (in applicable cases) of the Insured Member shall be able to claim the insurance benefits in case of a covered event as per the following table:

3.4 Limitations
  • If a person is covered under multiple subscriptions, any one claim shall be entertained against any one illness or accident. Multiple claim settlement for a single illness or accident under different subscriptions shall not be entertained.
  • At least 24 hours of hospital stay is required to become eligible for Hospitalization Allowance Benefit.
3.5 Exclusions

The following exclusions shall be applicable for the insurance coverage:

  • For Death Benefit:
    • Death due to any illness or disability or any condition pre-existing or preceding the effective date of coverage commencement.
    • Death/Accidental Death due to performing any illegal activity or felony.
    • Death/Accidental Death while under the influence of prohibited narcotics
    • Death due to Suicide while sane or insane.
    • Death due to the condition of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), and HIV (Human Immune Deficiency Virus), or any AIDS related illness or HIV virus.
    • Death due to maternity/child-birth related conditions.
  • For Funeral Benefit:
    • Death/Accidental Death due to performing any illegal activity or felony
    • Death/Accidental Death while under the influence of prohibited narcotics
  • For Personal Accident Benefit:
    • Injury due to performing any illegal activity or felony
    • Injury while under the influence of prohibited narcotics
    • Injury due to attempted suicide while sane or insane
  • For Hospitalization Allowance (Daily Basis):
    • Hospitalization due to any illness or disability or any condition pre-existing or preceding the effective date of coverage commencement
    • Hospitalization due to the condition of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), and HIV (Human Immune Deficiency Virus), or any AIDS related illness or HIV virus
    • Hospitalization due to any Psychiatric, mental or nervous disorder
    • Hospitalization due to exposure of the body, voluntarily or not, to nuclear power or radioactivity in war or warlike operations or in peace
    • Hospitalization for childbirth, prenatal/postnatal care, or any maternity related conditions
    • Dental and optical treatments unless required due to an accident
    • Any congenital infirmity
    • Hospitalization without a recommendation from a registered physician
    • Circumcision, prophylactic, and immunization procedures
    • Mental, emotional, or psychiatric disorders, alcoholism, or any other narcotic addictions
    • Obesity, i.e., treatment for, or required as a result of obesity, any cosmetic or plastic treatment/surgery, unless needed as reconstructive surgery as a consequence of an injury due to accidents, or burns
    • Any experimental or generally unaccepted procedures by medical professionals, i.e., acupuncture, herbal/ayurvedic/homeopathy treatment, alternative medical care (AMC), etc.
  • For Emergency Transportation:
    • Any illness or disability or any condition pre-existing or preceding the effective date of coverage commencement
    • Injury due to performing any illegal activity or felony
    • Any illness due to consuming any prohibited narcotics
    • The condition of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), or any AIDS-related illness or HIV
  • For Out-door Doctor Visit/Consultation:
    • Any illness or disability or any condition pre-existing or preceding the effective date of coverage commencement
    • Injury due to performing any illegal activity or felony
    • Routine examination of eye and ear, fitting or replacement of eyeglasses (including contact lenses) or hearing aids, any dental treatment (except hospitalization for reconstructive surgery as a consequence of an accident or disease);
    • Health screening including regular physical tests (health check-ups)
    • Sleep disorders, i.e., treatment for insomnia, sleep apnea, snoring, or any other sleep-related breathing problem
    • Treatment-related to maternity, family planning purposes including intended termination of pregnancy, sterility, or assisted reproduction
    • Any experimental or generally unaccepted procedures by medical professionals, i.e., acupuncture, herbal/ayurvedic/homeopathy treatment, alternative medical care (AMC), etc.
    • The condition of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), or any AIDS-related illness or HIV
3.6 Sub-limits for Personal Accident Benefit

Second-degree burns involve the epidermis and part of the lower layer of skin, the dermis. The burn site looks red, blistered, and may be swollen and painful.

3.7 Claim Documentation

The claimant must provide the below mentioned documents in digital formats in order to submit a claim (Please note that if the medical documents are not in English language, then the claimant must provide copies of certified translation of the medical documents along with the original ones):

  • For Death and Funeral Benefit Claim (Natural/Accidental - Claim to be submitted by the legal nominee)
    • Copy of Passport and NID/Birth Certificate of the Insured Member
    • Death Certificate from the last attending physician/clinic/hospital mentioning the actual cause of death and a Death Certificate from the local govt. authority where the Insured Member resides
    • Post-mortem report (if applicable – in case of Accidental Death)
    • Copy of NID/Birth Certificate of the legal nominee
    • Warisan/Succession certificate from the local government authority or court
    • Any other relevant documents which may require
  • For Personal Accident Benefit Claim
    • Copy of Passport and NID/Birth Certificate of the Insured Member
    • Doctor’s prescription/emergency ticket
    • Doctor’s Advice for hospitalization (in applicable cases)
    • Discharge Certificate (in applicable cases)
    • All medical bills
    • All diagnosis reports such as X-Ray, City Scan, MRI or such relevant reports
    • Any other relevant documents which may require
  • For Hospitalization Allowance Benefit Claim
    • Copy of Passport and NID/Birth Certificate of the Insured Member
    • Doctor’s prescription/emergency ticket with recommendation for hospitalization

3.8 Provisions for Claim Settlement
  • Claims must be submitted within 30 (thirty) days from the date of the covered event.
  • All claims shall be settled in equivalent Bangladeshi Taka at the conversion rate set out by the Central Bank of Bangladesh.
6. Claim Decision and Settlement
Claims can be submitted using the dedicated online claim platform by providing necessary information and by attaching/uploading relevant claim documents (scanned images/clear photographs of the medical and other relevant documents). A list of required documents for particular subscription package is provided above in the Claim Documentation sections (section 1.7, 2.6, 3.7, 4.8, and 5.7 respectively).

Upon subscription to any of the service packages, you shall get a confirmation SMS and email with a confirmation to the subscription.
6.1 Claim submission timeline

Claims must be submitted with all required documents within the below specific timeline of the Covered Event using the dedicated platform provided by Bimafy:

  • Passenger Bima: Within 30 days of the Covered Event (i.e. Accident/ Death/ Illness)
  • International Travel Bima (Silver/Gold): Within 30 days of the Covered Event (i.e. Accident/ Death/ Illness)
  • Refund Protection (Domestic/Basic/Standard/Premium): Within 15 days of the Covered Event (i.e. Reissue/ Cancellation/ No-show or missed flight due to an eligible reason)
  • Baggage Bima: Within 15 days of the loss/damage

Download the Bimafy mobile app from Google Play Store/App Store and sign up using the email address or phone number that you have used to make the booking at your ticketing agency. Your subscription shall be visible under the “Policies” section. Click on the “Claim Now” button to submit your claim.

Alternatively, you may submit you claim via email to the following email address: [email protected]. Please mention your full name, and registered mobile number on the email subject line and attach clear copies (i.e., clear photos/scanned images) of required documents on the email body.

* All claims are subject to verification by the applicable Insurance Partner(s) and Insurance Partner(s) reserves the right to reject any claim if it is deemed invalid/inappropriate or not applicable under the coverage. The decision by the Insurance Partner in this regard shall be conclusive.

* The insurance company may require additional documents or verification procedures against your claim where your cooperation is expected.

* Successful claims for insurance coverage shall be settled via bank account/mobile wallet within ten (10) working days after receiving all necessary documents from the beneficiary.

6.2 Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, And Indemnity
  • By using this service, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
    1. Various obligations and commitments of Bimafy under the terms of the Service may in the future become subject to requirements, restrictions or approvals of various governmental or regulatory authorities (“Authorities”).
    2. Bimafy shall not be liable or responsible to you for failure to perform or comply with the provisions of the terms of the Service in any way, in case any Authority does not provide the necessary approval(s) to Bimafy or in case any such authority imposes any restrictions on Bimafy or raises any objection in relation to the Services or any activity or obligation of Bimafy. In such a case, Firsttrip and Bimafy shall enter into good faith discussions with the view to identify mutually agreed alternatives, failing which either party shall have the right to terminate the Agreement between them with immediate effect. In such an event, Bimafy shall refund the payment taken for undelivered services to you within 7 (seven) working days from the date the agreement is terminated or the mutually agreed decision is reached.
  • You agree and accept that the Services provided by Bimafy on an “as is” and “as available” basis and Bimafy makes no commitment that the Services or any related features shall be fit for any specific purposes and requirements. However, Bimafy shall make reasonable attempts to satisfy the requirements of you in relation to the services as long as it is reasonably and practically possible.
  • You also agree and accept that the Services provided by Bimafy may include delivery of insurance certificates (including digital activation via SMS/email) which are issued by the listed insurance companies of Bangladesh and any insurance coverage and their related benefits are provided by third-party insurance provider(s) (“Insurance Partners”). All insurance related terms and conditions are provided by such insurance companies and you should carefully read and understand all the terms and conditions as provided by the Insurance Partners and agree to purchase at their own consent.

We are committed to maintain the confidentiality, integrity and security of all information of our users. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect and handle certain information from you when you use our website.

If you apply to purchase any insurance policies through us, we will collect additional information which are required by the Providers to underwrite relevant insurable risks such as (including but not limited to) name/details of the insured person/asset, date of birth, identification number, sex, address, etc. and financial information such as mobile financial service account number, debit/credit card number and expiration date through the payment gateway of the mobile financial service provider or debit/credit card company or the internet banking service of your bank or via a third-party payment processing service provider. We store the collected information for our records and to verify authenticity of the same in the future. We may also collect information such as beneficiary/nominee name, address and your relationship to the beneficiary/nominee when you apply to purchase a financial product using our Platform or submit an insurance claim. If you choose to use our referral service to share a friend or family member about our website, we will ask you for your family member’s/friend’s name and email address. We shall send an automated one-time email with the invitation to visit our website to your friend/family member.
